The film is known for its interesting mix of love, patriotism, and suspense. It takes place in a time after India became independent and involves a spy story.
In the film, Ajay Mehra is a secret agent on a mission in Kashmir to stop terrorists supported by Pakistan, shortly after India became independent. During the mission, he is hurt in a bomb blast and loses his memory. At the same time, Asha, a simple young woman, runs away from her home after it is attacked by the same terrorists. She finds the injured Ajay and kindly takes care of him. As she looks after him, they slowly fall in love.
To help Ajay get better and regain his memory, they go to Srinagar for medical treatment. While there, Ajay finds some things that give him clues about his past. He then decides to go to Bombay to find out who he really is. This begins an exciting story filled with spy action, love, and loyalty to the country.
In Bombay, while trying to find out who he really is, Ajay sees some criminals running away after robbing a bank. He tries to stop them, but they hit him with their car as they drive away. Just before the accident, Ajay realizes that he has seen these men before at the Continental Hotel, where he was earlier looking for clues.
Ajay is taken to the hospital, and his brother comes to see him. The accident helps Ajay remember some parts of his past. But he still cannot remember the last six months, especially the time he spent with Asha. This leaves a deep sadness in his heart.
The robbers, now scared that Ajay has seen and recognized them, make a plan to kill him. They send a woman, the wife of one of the gang members, to Ajay’s house. She lies and says she is his wife, hoping to confuse him.
At the same time, Asha is still looking for Ajay. She finally finds his house, but Ajay doesn’t remember her because he has lost his memory. The police think something is wrong, so they start watching both women carefully.
The gang tries many times to kill Ajay, but he escapes every time by being smart and careful. Later, Ajay and the police make a plan to pretend that he is dead. This tricks the robbers into thinking they are safe, so they stop hiding. The police then quickly catch them.
In the final fight, Ajay gets hurt and passes out. But when he wakes up, he remembers everything, including his time with Asha. Now safe and with his memory back, Ajay marries Asha, and their love story ends happily.
